Driver
Dave Hemingway Born 1967 at the tender age of none, Dave has enjoyed many sports and hobbies before finding one that meant he didn't have to run or pedal. Cycling was (and still is) his first passion and Dave competed up to national level in road, track and time trial events. His best overall result was 5th and his most memorable was achieving 29th overall in the season long British Best All Rounder competition. (Works a bit like the Sony Rankings) Dave was also involved with the Wakefield Swimming Club for a while and once came second in a cross country running race despite having two left feet and a stitch for most of the seven mile course.
Dave is unmarried but "isn't gay or owt" as he has a life long partner, Karen who he cooks, cleans and generally panders to her every whim (Don't we all boys???)
Despite having no kids, Dave and Karen have a small menagerie of cats, rabbits and horses (on loan from Dave's sister) at their country residence in Yorkshire.
Navigator
Jim Plevey Born in 1970 Jim went from childhood to adulthood in one large bound, converting from lego to smoking, drinking and copulating over the space of a single weekend.
Jim has enjoyed interests in scuba diving and bungie jumping before he became interested in motorsport. It wasn't long before he realised that he was pretty un-remarkable behind the wheel so a career in navigating where he could criticise other's driving and offer poor advice beckoned. When asked if he had been involved in a serious accident, Jim said no, he was off that day. At the time he was regular navigator for Charlie Lamb who had a biggie on the only rally Jim missed. The stand-in navigator was so seriously hurt that he was strongly advised to retire from the sport.
Jim is married to wife, Michelle and until recently they had no kids. Recently, they have been turning them out at the rate of one every two years having achieved a brace by the names of Charlie and Amy.
The Mount
Untraditionally, we haven't named the car. Most have girl's names and most are fairly ridiculous but ours doesn't have one. I must admit to having called her a few choice names in the past but I'll not publish them here!
My original car was nicknamed Shitty because of the registration number. SVH 816T. If you look at the alternate digits you'll see why. This car was like Trigger's brush and was treated to several new shells and even more new engines. It was just getting quick with a 2000cc Pinto engine in when we blew it sky high on the Trackrod rally in 1995 whilst lying fifth overall. We were out on the next rally, the Premier with a rebuilt but off-song engine and were pushing hard when we "fell over" in a quite spectacular way.
The present car has undergone even more shell and engine replacements and is currently what has been described as a Semi-works shell. The shell was used in the eighties as the Minolta Copiers Escort but that was before my time.
We now have a 16valv Vauxhall engine in almost standard specification driving through a 5 speed Sierra box and an Atlas axle. Vented disks all round and the good old-fashioned Bilstein shockers. Nothing Group 4 and nothing really special. It's just a good old solid shell full of filler.
